If you like, you can take a swim here. Upon our return in the village, we will take the jeeps again and set out to a small authentic Cambodian village with a very friendly local population. After checking in at the hotel, you can enjoy a drink on the river bank, thinking back on the beautiful day we´ve had. Koh Kong Bay Hotel.
Day 3: Koh Kong – Veal Veang
Early in the morning we will leave Koh Kong. We will drive amidst the mountains, enjoying beautiful views. On the way, we will pass the construction site of five huge dams. This is a desolate area, with extensive forest and dirt tracks that allow for a pleasant day of driving. Be careful though, if we´re lucky, we might encounter wild animals! Day 5: Battambang
After breakfast we will drive to the Bamboo train station. The tour starts with a ride on the famous bamboo train. The bamboo train is a 2.5m x 4m raft-like device that is made from bamboo for local villagers to transport their goods. There is only one track used for both directions so if you see someone coming in the other direction the drivers will have to decide which train has the lightest load. The train with the lighter load or fewer passengers has to unload their goods and people and dismantle off the track to let the other train by. This is a very unique and fun ride that you must experience while in Battambang! Battambang Resort
In the afternoon we will explore the north of Battambang and drive up to Ek Phnom Temple which was built in the 11th century. On the way we will stop to visit the villagers and see how they produce local products such as fish paste, sticky rice, rice wine, rice papers, noodles, and clay pots which are commonly used in the countryside to collect rainwater. We will also get a chance to learn more about the Khmer Rouge when we visit the Well of Shadows, a monument to honour the people killed during the war.
