Day 2: Phnom Kulen Camping Jeep Tour

An early morning rise for this Phnom Kulen camping jeep tour will show you the campsite location at its best: fresh, rugged and naturally beautiful. The small river running next to our campsite allows you the opportunity to freshen up. But for the more adventurous (and perhaps dirtier!) a short walk takes you to a small waterfall. Offering you the perfect Cambodian morning shower.

After a satisfying breakfast you will jump back into the jeeps.  Explore deeper off road taking small tracks deeper into the jungle. When the roads become too narrow for even our trusted jeeps to take, the only option is to hike the last short section. The walk allows you to connect even more closely with your magical surrounding. As you round the final corner a majestic, if a little surreal site awaits you. Deep in the trees lies Srah Damrei large, sandstone sculptures of an elephant. But also a lion and several other smaller statues stand trapped in time in the dense undergrowth. These beautiful sculptures have been dated as far back as the 8th or 9th centuries. After taking in this site, you will continue your way and, stopping for lunch on the way with a local family.

Driving through the back roads and countryside, you will stop at a beautiful mangrove forest. This unique piece of nature is flooded throughout much of the year. The local community have built a 1.4 km bamboo pathway, allowing you to leisurely walk through this special landscape, taking in everything it has to offer. Driving back to Siem Reap you will have a little time to reflect on the last two days. Another wonderful, back to nature experience which Cambodia has just served up for you.
