Lotos Rallye 2026: Day by day
10 January 2026
Day 1: Welcome in Cambodia
As you touch down in Cambodia, a land of enchantment and discovery, our team will greet you at the airport and bring you to your hotel in Phnom Penh. Take a moment to unwind and acclimate to your new surroundings before embarking on an unforgettable odyssey.
In the late afternoon, gather for an orientation briefing that will prepare you for the thrilling adventures ahead. Get insider information on your jeep tour, learn essential guidelines, traffic rules, and meet the staff who will be your guides throughout this journey. You’ll also receive a comprehensive day-by-day book and jeep instructions to ensure you’re ready to take on the open road.
Next, hop aboard a tuktuk and head to the boat station, where you’ll set sail on a sunset cruise across the majestic Tonle Sap and Mekong rivers. As the sky transforms into a kaleidoscope of colors, toast to your adventure with a cocktail in hand while taking in the breathtaking skyline of Phnom Penh. This is the perfect way to kick off the Lotos Rallye 2026 Jeep adventure, a journey that will take you through the heart of Cambodia’s untamed beauty and hidden treasures.

11 January 2026
Day 2: A Look Back: Exploring Cambodia’s Past
In the morning, a traditional Khmer cyclo will transport you to Wat Phnom, the historic site from which Phnom Penh derives its name. This pagoda is situated atop a 35-meter-high hill, surrounded by lush trees where playful monkeys frolic in the shade. Next, you’ll visit the Royal Palace, where you can marvel at the stunning ancient Khmer architecture and explore the Silver Pagoda.
We’ll then change our mode of transportation and continue our way by tuktuk to the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum, a former high school that became the most notorious prison during the Khmer Rouge regime from 1975 to 1979. This poignant visit will provide a deep understanding of Cambodia’s turbulent past.
During lunch, you’ll have the opportunity to reflect on the morning’s experiences and discuss the profound impact of the Khmer Rouge’s legacy. Afterward, you’ll have three options:
1. Return to your hotel and unwind by the pool.
2. Visit Central Market, an iconic Art Deco building from 1937, where you can explore a vast indoor market offering a wide array of shops, souvenirs, clothing, jewelry, and more.
3. Explore the Killing Fields, a museum located approximately 15 kilometers outside Phnom Penh, which provides further insight into the darker chapters of Khmer history. (Optional tour: entrance fee is not included)
At 5:00 PM, everyone will be picked up from the hotel for a sunset experience at Sora Bar, located on the rooftop of the Rosewood Hotel. Enjoy a breathtaking 360-degree view of Phnom Penh while savoring a sundowner in the city’s highest bar.
12 January 2026
Day 3: The Real Adventure Begins
As we fire up our vintage jeep and leave the bustling streets of Phnom Penh behind, the excitement builds. The first few hours will be a thrilling ride through the city’s vibrant chaos, but as we break free from the urban sprawl, the landscape transforms. The scenery unfolds into a tapestry of lush rice fields, and the closer we get to Kep, the more majestic limestone hills rise from the horizon, painting the landscape with a unique charm.
We’ll venture into one of these limestone hills to explore a breathtaking cave. Its open roof allows sunlight to pour in, casting an ethereal glow that gives the cave an otherworldly dimension. From here, it’s just a short drive to our final destination for the day: Kep, a seaside town once famously known as “Khmer sur mer” in the 1960s. This popular resort was nearly destroyed during the Khmer Rouge regime, but efforts are underway to restore it to its former glory. As we arrive in Kep, the blend of colonial history, natural beauty, and the sound of the waves will leave you eager for the adventures that await.

13 January 2026
Day 4: Become a Mangrove Guardian: Supporting Coastal Restoration
We kick-start our day with a hearty breakfast, then hop back into our vintage jeeps, ready to explore the wonders of Kep and Kampot. A short drive brings us to the renowned Kep Market, where the freshest seafood in Cambodia awaits. Kep is legendary for its succulent crabs, and we’ll immerse ourselves in the bustling market, surrounded by the daily catch of fresh fish and crabs.
Next, we’ll venture into the countryside of Kep and Kampot, where the world’s best peppers are grown. We’ll visit a pepper plantation to uncover the secrets of Kampot’s green, red, black, and white peppers—learning why they’re considered the finest globally. Lunch will be served at the picturesque Secret Lake, where you can indulge in dishes infused with the authentic flavor of Kampot peppers. Don’t forget your swimwear, as the restaurant features an infinity pool overlooking the serene lake. After lunch, we’ll head to the Trapeang Sangke community, where a special project is underway to restore the mangroves along the coast. We’ll take a boat into the mangroves and participate in this conservation effort by planting baby mangrove trees. You’ll also have the chance to explore the mangroves via a specially designed footpath, immersing yourself in this vital ecosystem.
Finally, we’ll drive to our hotel, filled with the excitement and fulfillment of a day well-spent exploring the natural wonders and cultural riches of Kep and Kampot.
14 January 2026
Day 5: The Mountain of Happiness
After breakfast, climb aboard our vintage jeep and leave Kampot behind. Today, we’ll drive through the picturesque countryside of Kampot Province, passing quaint villages along the way. As we journey into the afternoon, we’ll arrive at Kirirom National Park, one of only two places in Cambodia where you can find pine trees. These trees were introduced by King Sihanouk in the 1960s from Japan, adding a unique touch to the landscape.
We’ll drive through the pine forests, ascending the hills, and enjoy a stunning view from our accommodation tonight. Come and experience the natural beauty of Kirirom National Park with us, where the cool pine forests and breathtaking vistas await.

15 January 2026
Day 6: From Kirirom to Areang
From Kirirom to Areang
Leaving the refreshing landscapes of Kirirom National Park behind us, we climb back into our trusty jeeps. Today, an exhilarating journey awaits as we venture towards the majestic Cardamom Mountains, the road ahead winding gracefully through rolling hills. Our adventure will include the unique experience of fording four picturesque rivers, each presenting its own distinct charm and fantastic photo opportunities.
The initial leg of our drive will take us along the smooth expanse of the new Highway 48. However, our true exploration begins at Andeung Tuk, where we’ll turn off the highway and delve deep into the heart of the Cardamom Mountains, our destination being the remote village of Chiphat. Before reaching this hidden gem, we’ll enjoy a scenic river crossing by ferry boat, adding another layer to our adventure.
Historically, the terrain between Chiphat and Areang was considered impassable, defying even the efforts of motorbikes. But recently, a new dirt road has been carved through this challenging landscape, offering an exciting and exclusive jeep trail. While reaching this area requires a bit of effort, those who are keen can seize the opportunity to trek to a hidden waterfall nestled deep within the lush jungle.
As the late afternoon sun casts long shadows, we’ll arrive at the tranquil Kravanh La Vallee. Here, you’ll settle into comfortable safari tents, immersing yourselves in the natural surroundings. The inviting restaurant, conveniently located beside the gently flowing river, will be the perfect place to unwind and share stories of our day’s discoveries.
16 January 2026
Day 7: Awaken to the Sound of Nature
We’re gently awakened by the sounds of the forest, with birds singing their morning songs. If you’re feeling adventurous, take a stroll through the woods before we start our breakfast. This is a perfect opportunity to connect with nature and set the tone for the day.
We continue our way and drive to Tatai Waterfall. Upon arrival, be mesmerized by the waterfall’s majestic two-tiered cascade. The first tier, a graceful 5 to 6 meters, gives way to the grander second tier, plunging 12 to 15 meters into crystal-clear pools. Indulge in a delightful picnic lunch amidst this serene natural sanctuary, where the gentle murmur of the falls creates a soothing ambiance. Dive into the refreshing embrace of the wide, shallow pools, perfect for a rejuvenating swim. We’ll trade our jeeps for a boat, as our accommodation can only be reached by water.
Now, we find ourselves in the southern part of the Cardamom Mountains, surrounded by one of the largest rainforests adjacent to the mangrove. For the next two nights, we’ll be staying in unique luxury safari tents, some of which are built on floating pontoons and others on the island. While there’s no swimming pool, the river offers a stunning spot to dive in and swim. Our resort also provides kayaks, allowing you to paddle around the island and explore its serene beauty.

17 January 2026
Day 8: Adventure seamlesly blends with relaxation
In the previous Lotos Rallye we only stayed at the Canvas and Orchids for one night, but it is such a unique and special place that this year we decided to add one more night in order to fully the tranquility of this beautiful accommodation.
This day is yours to fill as you wish. We are now halfway through this self-drive jeep adventure, and this is the perfect place to recharge your batteries. You can enjoy a leisurely breakfast, swim in the river, or take the resort’s kayak and paddle around the island. It’s also possible to book a tour to the mangroves or a trekking tour through the forests (these tours are optional). Alternatively, you can grab a book and relax in one of the comfortable sun loungers.
18 January 2026
Day 9: Deep into the Cardamom Mountains
We wave goodbye to Canvas and Orchids and by boat we go back to the mainland. A new adventure calls us further into the Cardamom Mountains, where our jeeps feel right at home. Not long ago, this area was impenetrable for regular cars. Since 2013, we’ve been braving the dusty dirt roads here with our jeeps, with a 150-kilometer journey taking almost a full day – a true expedition!
Now, a brand new, smooth asphalt road winds its way from Koh Kong to Battambang. But don’t let that fool you! For us, the thrill of traversing this breathtaking landscape in our jeeps remains as strong as ever. We consider this one of the absolute gems of Cambodia. And believe it or not, we’ve still discovered some fantastic off-road routes that make our hearts beat faster.
Especially the final leg of the journey to your accommodation is a real treat for the adventurer in us. With our vintage jeeps, we rumble along narrow dirt tracks, past sprawling plantations and through picturesque villages – an authentic experience! Our destination for tonight is a unique place, strategically built on a hilltop. Prepare yourself for a spectacular view of the surroundings, a reward after this exhilarating day

19 January 2026
Day 10: Would she be Home?
Would she be home?
Another exciting day of driving awaits you today, A mix of tarmac roads, dirt roads and, if it has been raining, also muddy roads. We drive through beautiful landscapes and hills with vast plantations of bananas, durian and mangoes. We have lunch at a small river where it is also possible to swim. Unfortunately, we are not allowed to enter Angelina Jolie’s house, but a sneaky view from the fence gives us a little peek into her summer residence. We continue our journey and sometimes drive over bumpy roads alternated with good roads
In the afternoon, we’ll arrive in Battambang, Cambodia’s second-largest city. Nestled along the banks of the picturesque Sangker River, Battambang exudes a unique charm. The city boasts a rich and impressive history, marked by both Khmer and Thai influences. It once served as a vital trading hub and was under Thai rule, which is still evident in its architecture and cultural traditions. Our local guide will delve into the fascinating history of this city tomorrow.
At 6:30 PM, we’ll pick you up and transport you to the captivating world of Phare, The Cambodian Circus. This evening performance is a unique blend of modern circus arts, high-energy music, and traditional Cambodian storytelling. The show seamlessly weaves together theater, music, dance, acrobatics, juggling, aerial acts, fire performances, and contortion, culminating in an explosion of virtuosity and sensitivity. During the hour-long spectacle, the talented Phare performers will captivate you with their emotional intensity and sheer power, leaving you spellbound.
20 January 2026
Day 11 : Unveiling the Secrets of Battambang
A jeep tour through Battambang is the perfect way to discover and experience this vibrant city. Today, you’ll uncover a mix of culture, old and modern history, architecture, and local traditions. We’ll take you to lesser-known yet historically significant sites, where you’ll visit unique buildings, meet local people, and uncover the hidden stories of Battambang. Additionally, you’ll explore the most beautiful and mysterious pagodas in Battambang, learning about the history, customs, and diverse culture of this ancient city.
After lunch, we’ll head to Phnom Sompov Mountain, which stands approximately 140 meters high with over 800 steps to the top. To save some of the climb, you can ride a pickup truck partway up and then visit the temples, shrines, and “killing caves” from the Khmer Rouge era. Once at the summit, you’ll enjoy a breathtaking view over all of Battambang and marvel at the expansive and beautiful landscape.
As the day concludes before sunset, you’ll descend the mountain steps and visit the “bat army”—thousands of bats flying out of their caves in the hillside at dusk. Afterward, return to your hotel to dine, rest, and reflect on what has been a full and fascinating tour.

21 January 2026
Day 12: Uncover the Secrets of Spring Rolls and Silk
We all know and love fresh or fried spring rolls, but have you ever wondered how they’re made? Today, you’ll have the chance to learn all about rice paper and the art of crafting spring rolls with a local family. Just outside Battambang, you’ll encounter an enormous unfinished white Buddha statue. Discover the intriguing story behind why it was never completed, along with many other fascinating tales, as we begin our day.
As we journey towards Siem Reap, silk takes center stage. Visit a silk farm to learn about the entire process, from silkworms to weaving silk. This unique experience will give you a deeper appreciation for the craftsmanship and significance of silk in Cambodian culture.
After a short drive, we’ll arrive in Siem Reap, our final destination, but the adventure is far from over. We’ve saved the best for last, and you’re in for a treat as we conclude our journey in style.
22 January 2026
Day 13: Discover Angkor Wat in a Village Jeep
This morning, we’ll set off in our jeeps to explore the magnificent UNESCO World Heritage Site of Angkor Wat, navigating through lesser-known back roads to avoid the crowds. This scenic route will transport you back in time, allowing you to imagine the ancient temples as they lay undiscovered for centuries.
An English-speaking guide will lead you through the historic park, where you’ll marvel at the majestic structures and relive the splendor of the ancient Khmer kingdom. Most of the temples date back to the 12th century, featuring some of the world’s most impressive bas-reliefs and sculptures, including the mythical Garudas and enchanting Apsara dancers.
First, we’ll visit the iconic Angkor Wat temple, the largest and best-preserved of all, with its towering spires and imposing presence. Take your time to explore its grandeur from within. Next, we’ll head to Angkor Thom, home to the breathtaking Bayon Temple. Here, you’ll be mesmerized by the 54 intricate four-headed Buddha statues, a true highlight of the temple complex.
Lunch will be served in a local house away from all the tourists. After a refreshing break, we’ll venture to Ta Phrom Temple, famously featured in the movie “Tomb Raider.” This temple’s unique charm lies in its ancient trees, whose massive roots have enveloped the walls, creating a visually stunning backdrop that will leave you in awe. This unforgettable experience will be the perfect conclusion to your day of temple exploration.

23 January 2026
Day 14: A Day of Leisure and a Grand Finale
Enjoy a day of freedom, where you can choose to indulge in shopping, rejuvenate with a massage, or do a local excursion. However, the real highlight awaits as we conclude our unforgettable self-drive jeep tour with a grand finale.
At 4 PM, we’ll embark on a scenic drive through the picturesque countryside of Siem Reap, navigating through lush rice paddies and quaint villages, surrounded by breathtaking natural beauty. This final jeep journey will be a memorable one, as we make our way to West Baray. Here, bid farewell to your trusty jeep companion of the past 12 days and board a boat to sail across the serene lake, setting the stage for an unforgettable experience.
Our last evening of the Lotos Rallye 2026 will be a night to remember, hosted in a charming traditional Khmer villa. This enchanting setting is adorned with intricate carvings and nestled within lush gardens. The evening’s highlight is a delectable five-course Khmer dinner, crafted by award-winning chefs using the freshest local ingredients. But there’s more to explore: take an ox cart ride through the surrounding village, learn about traditional Khmer crafts from local artisans, or simply unwind with a foot massage while taking in the breathtaking sunset views As the sun dips below the horizon, the villa transforms into a magical ambiance, illuminated by hundreds of candles and lanterns. Live traditional music provides a soothing backdrop to the culinary experience, creating an enchanting evening.
And, of course, the Lotos Award ceremony will be a fitting tribute to our adventurous journey. After a beautiful evening together, we’ll return to Siem Reap, bringing to a close an unforgettable adventure.
