Peaks of Danang | in a Vintage Jeep over the Hai Van Pass.

From your departure point, our Jeep driver will pick you up and drive along the coast. Your first stop is Marble Mountain, where you will hike to visit a pagoda in a cave with a meditative view from the mountain.

Following the legend of Cham, long time ago, there was a giant dragon who flew to give her birth in here. After that, the dragon’s egg became bigger and bigger until one day, a fairy flew from the dragon’s egg and their egg’s shell grew into five mystical Marble Mountains as people see today.

In the 19th century, Marble Mountains had been named “Ngu Hanh Son” by Minh Mang (the second King of Nguyen Dynasty) according to the theory of five essential elements of Eastern (water, wood, fire, metal and earth). Vietnamese Government keeps this name until now and it becomes a famous destination in Da Nang.

Your next stop is Hai Van Pass and some historical relics to take pictures of before driving down to the other side of the pass to enjoy your lunch at Lang Co Bay.

Hai Van Pass is one of the most scenic hillside roads in Vietnam. When braving the steep winding roads of a paved mountain pass, you will have a chance to discover peace, quiet and history along the way…

On the north- south nation highway, Hai Van Pass is an impressive landscape. It is like a giant dragon, lying on Highway 1 on the border between Thua Thien-Hue Province and Danang City. This is the highest pass in Vietnam (500m above sea level). This rugged pass is the final section of the Truong Son Range stretching to the sea. Hai Van means “Sea Clouds”, since the peak of the mountain is in the clouds while its foot is close to the sea.  In the past, Hai Van Pass was known as the Thuan Hoa and Quang Nam frontier.

A trip to central Vietnam cannot be perfect without a stop-over at Lang Co Bay, which lies between Danang and Hue cities on the central coast. Visitors flock to Lang Co beach to seek for a wonderful landscape created by both nature and humans.

Long white-sand beach with blue seawater of Lang Co may capture every visitor’s heart at first sight. Visiting Lang Co Bay at the sunset, you may feel nostalgic when seeing a peaceful fishing village with boat sailing in Lap An Lagoon (near Lang Co bay), together with flocks of storks flying back to their nest.

Being part of the Gulf of Lang Co, Lap An lagoon is an 800 hectare brackish water lagoon, which is famous for its poetic beauty of mountains, clouds and sky reflecting in the clean blue water surface as well as for rich natural resources including mangroves. Lap An is an ideal place for photographers and explorers. The best time to visit the lagoon is at dusk.

The natural complex of Lang Co Bay, Lap An and Cau Hai lagoons has been regarded as one of the most beautiful destinations in Southeast Asia. It is home to 11,000 local people who earn their livings by catching and farming fish, as well as providing tourism services.

After lunch time, we will move on to Son Tra Peninsula, drive on a forgotten road to visit the former heliport of the US Army, where helicopters used to supply goods to US soldiers.

Sơn Tra is 10km from the center of Da Nang City to the North-east and is 693m high above sea level and can be seen from every place in the city. Son Tra looks like a mushroom of which cap is Son Tra Mountain and stalk is a beautiful sandy beach that affords an ideal area for bathing, playing sports, fishing and swimming.

On Son Tra, there still remain more than 30km² of natural forests, nearly 300 types of plants and several hundred kinds of fauna, including rare animal. From the top of the mountain, you can see the overall view of Danang City, Marble Mountains, Ba Na- Mount Chua, so interesting!

On the way, we will stop at several locations with fantastic views to ensure that you will not miss any of them.

Driving on a forgotten road, you will have the chance to visit:

The Son Tra View Tower and Army Radar Station: Standing 580m high compared to the sea level, Son Tra View Tower offers a wonderful panoramic view of the whole Da Nang city, Son Tra Beach and the surrounding forest. Nearby, you can also visit the army radar station which dated back from 1960s. This radar station is considered as “Mat Than Dong Duong” “Indochina Miraculous Eyes”.  From the top head-quarter of the station, you will have a very broad view towards the ocean through the microscope.

The final stop is a “must visit” place in Da Nang City named Linh Ung Pagoda, where the Goddess of Mercy white statue is located. The Lady Buddha statue is the tallest one in Vietnam (67m high). It is also placed on a 35m-high lotus diameter, making the total height over 100 meters, equivalent to a 30-floor building.

If you are a person of religion, or simply someone who’s looking for a quiet and tranquil place, then Linh Ung Pagoda (Bai But) might be the perfect place waiting for you.

The trip ends at your hotel!
