      JT30 Authentic Khmer Life

Just 15 kilometers northeast of Siem Reap, Preah Dak Village invites you on a meaningful vintage jeep journey into the heart of rural Cambodia. This peaceful, picturesque village is surrounded by lush rice paddies, tall sugar palms, and stilted wooden homes that reflect the authentic rhythm of Khmer village life. Upon arrival in this charming village, we'll trade our rugged jeep for agile local bicycles. Our Khmer Cultural Cycling Tour is a unique opportunity to experience the traditions, crafts, and community spirit that define this region.

Your half-day adventure begins with a gentle cycling tour along scenic countryside trails. As you pedal past open rice fields, grazing cows, and local farms, you’ll feel the calming beauty of Cambodia’s countryside. This soft adventure is perfect for those looking to explore at a relaxed pace while enjoying cultural insight.

The first stop is at a family-owned workshop where traditional palm sugar is produced. Learn how local farmers tap sugar palms and slowly boil the syrup over open fires using time-honored techniques. You’ll be invited to sample the freshly made sugar—a sweet taste of Khmer heritage.

Next, visit a small family farm where rice is still husked and cleaned by hand using wooden tools. You’ll witness how rice, the staple of Cambodian life, is prepared in a way that’s barely changed in generations. This hands-on experience offers a deeper understanding of rural living and the labor that sustains it.

The final highlight is a visit with a respected elder—a village grandmother who handcrafts incense sticks used in daily Buddhist rituals and temple ceremonies. Sit with her as she patiently rolls and dries the incense, and even try your hand at making your own to take home as a cultural souvenir.
