Phnom Kulen National Park lies approximately 50 kilometers north east of Siem reap and offers a varied range or sights and landscapes, perfect for a memorable day-trip into rural Cambodia. Considered one of the most scenic and historically significant locations in the area, Phnom Koulen Mountain is a sacred mountain of special religious significance to Hindus and Buddhists, who come to the mountain on pilgrimage. Our jeeps allow you freedom to take a small, less travelled dirt roads up the mountain, avoiding the regular tourist traffic and giving you authentic view of the Cambodian countryside.
We get off the main road and drive on small country roads. You drive through rice fields and palm trees before arriving at the foot of Phnom Kulen. Following the dirt road into the national park allows us to arrive at the main sites in the afternoon, when many tourists are already on their way back to town. You will visit a beautifully carved reclining Buddha resting above Preah Ang Thom temple, before visiting the 1000 lingas, where an array of Hindu lingas are carved into the riverbed.
Of course, we picked a special location for lunch at a small river in the middle of the forests. The community made a delicious traditional lunch for us. We try to avoid single use plastic as much as possible so here as well the food is packed in natural materials.
Your visit will conclude with one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Cambodia. At the base of the falls is a large pool where we can go for a refreshing swim. After a full and rewarding day, you will return by jeep through the countryside to Siem Reap arriving late afternoon or early evening.
Back in your hotel room, you will find out why we called this tour Magical Phnom Kulen. This mountain exudes an attraction to come back again.

WHAT TO DO IN KULEN MOUNTAIN?
KULEN MOUNTAIN WATERFALL
You can find two waterfalls in Kulen mountain, the most famous one being the twenty-meter high waterfall where you can refresh yourself. Water levels vary considerably between the dry and the wet season, the water being the strongest in September and October.
Stairs access the main waterfall, and lockers are available where you can leave your personal effects before taking a dip in the cooling waters.
RECLINING BUDDHA AT PREAH ANG THOM TEMPLE
This reclining Buddha, the largest in Cambodia, carved in sandstone, is 8-meter long and housed inside a small temple named Preah Ang Thom on the top of the mountain. This reclining Buddha is very popular with locals for pilgrimage, where they walk around counterclockwise and give small donations.
KULEN MOUNTAIN | LINGA RIVER
Over 1,000 lingas are carved on the bed of the river in Phnom Kulen, blessing the water that flows down to Siem Reap and the Tonle Sap lake.
